Job Description

Job Summary: 

The Transportation & Logistics Coordinator will perform entry-level logistics activities, including daily monitoring and coordination of shipment schedules, shipment status tracking and load status.  Also responsible for the daily contact with carriers, rate confirmation, documentation, record retention, and data entry.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Facilitate and schedule logistics for timely product delivery using truck and Steam Ship Line transportation modes. Extensive customer service responsibilities including resolution of problems and discrepancies, as well as building customer relationships
  •  Provide customer service to maintain positive relationships with suppliers, customers, and transportation.
  • Respond to routine correspondence in a timely fashion with transload customers, trucking companies and coworkers
  • Assist merchandisers, managers, and accounting staff with reconciliations of A/R and A/P accounts
  • Offer a market prospective on transportation costs and negotiate rates to help generate business and profitability.
  • Work together with merchandisers and managers to ensure all service work and documentation are accurate and up-to-date
  • Deliver knowledge and perspective to advance the export business via container transportation.
  • Run support and offer guidance for transload facilities to maintain productivity and efficiency.
  • Demonstrate regular attendance and timeliness in reporting to work, meetings and completing assignments

Other Job Functions:

  • Ensure accounting books are closed properly at the end of each period
  • Keep filing up to date and easily accessible
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Ability to work and interact well with others
  • 2-3 years of related business experience
  • Basic accounting and bookkeeping knowledge a must; 3 years’ experience desired
  • Ability to meet deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word & Excel
  • Ability to multi-task with strong willingness to learn
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work well in team environment
  • Truck/Logistics experience a plus
  • 10-key data entry skills a plus

Special Demands:

  • Indoor work environment
  • On-call shifts to include occasional overnights and weekends
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 90% of the time
  • Position requires operation of a computer and other standard office equipment, such as a copy machine, calculator, computer printer, phone up to 90% of the time
  • Frequently communicates with employees and customers in the office and at remote locations
