Job Summary: 

The IT Intern will provide first-level support to end users on a variety of issues. This role will assist in ongoing day-to-day maintenance and support of workstations, hardware and software. Position will rely on instructions and established guidelines to perform many functions of the job.

Intern may serve on one or more support teams depending upon skill set and current demands: Service Desk, Client Support, Platform Support, Application Support, Network Support. Additionally, individuals may specialize within these teams focusing on specific technologies.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Log and respond to incident and service request cases, interact with the service customer in person or by phone, e-mail or instant messaging.
  • Diagnose the nature of incidents. If within incumbent’s scope and skill level, restore service to individual as quickly as possible. When appropriate, refer case to appropriate team/individual for resolution and/or escalation.
  • Communicate, both verbally and in writing, the incident and service request clearly enough for team members to assist or transition


  • Pursuing a college degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience required
  • Strong customer service ethic
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, complex and dynamic environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Sense of ownership, driving resolution of issues
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Able to prioritize and manage multiple service requests and projects

Special Demands:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 90% of the time
  • Position requires operation of a computer and other standard office equipment, such as a copy machine, calculator, computer printer and phone up to 90% of the time
  • Frequently communicates with employees in the office and at remote locations
