Job Summary: 

The Credit Specialist will be responsible for the portfolio management of an assigned territory; utilizing their skills of credit and collections to support the credit policy primarily through daily credit risk analysis of new and existing customers.  The position will be located in Omaha, reporting to the Domestic Credit Manager.

Essential Job Functions:

Review and recommend credit limits; monitor, evaluate, analyze and communicate changes in credit risk for Gavilon.  Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Responsible for the entire credit review process for an assigned territory.
  • Responsible for review and analysis of financial information, bank and trade references, and third party credit reporting
  • Collaborate with both credit and commercial team members to oversee A/R Management, Past Dues and Over Credit Limit issues. 
  • Provide timely and informative reporting and analysis to management (i.e. recommended reserves for bad debt and AR aging). 
  • Responsible for defined Collection process in collaboration with Commercial team, making Collection calls directly to Past Due Buyers or sending Collection letters to minimize potential bad debt losses
  • Responsible for monitoring and follow up of legal process with both internal and external attorneys
  • Attend sales meetings, industry groups and making customer visits.
  • Responsible for review and approval of all various types of agreements (i.e. storage, transload, offtake)

Qualifications/Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or Economics required
  • Ability to effectively work as part of a fast paced, dynamic and highly motivated team with strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and other Microsoft applications)
  • Strong analytic, interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • 1 plus year commercial credit experience preferred
  • Experience in an agricultural environment preferred
  • Availability for off-site travel for up to a week in duration
