Job Description

Job Summary:

The Credit Assistant’s primary job responsibility will be to assist the Credit Analysts and the Credit Manager with the processing of new credit applications, reviews and all other functions required to support the credit department. The Credit Assistant position will report to the Senior Credit Analyst and be located in Omaha, Neb.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Prepare credit investigations for existing and new business customers, review and summarize D&B and credit reports, assist with the ongoing credit review process
  • Obtain and enter customer financials and appropriate data into the credit system
  • Maintain customer records in the credit system to ensure proper documentation and compliance
  • Establish, change, and inactivate customer ID’s in the operating systems
  • Prepare, distribute and manage weekly and monthly reports
  • Interface with business unit managers and merchandisers regarding establishment of new accounts and renewal of existing accounts
  • Demonstrate regular attendance and timeliness in reporting to work, meetings and completing assignments

Other Job Functions:


  • Provide credit references to other creditors as needed
  • Assist with other projects as needed
    • Additional tasks as assigned by department and/or managementQualifications/Education/Experience/Skills:

  • PC Proficiency – Microsoft Word, Excel
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills. Able to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail
  • Ability to work individually and with a team
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business preferred
  • 1-3 years’ experience in finance, accounting or credit position preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret business financial statements preferred
  • Accounting and/or bookkeeping experience preferred


Special Demands:


  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 90% of the time
  • Position requires operation of a computer and other standard office equipment, such as a copy machine, calculator, computer printer up to 90% of the time
  • Frequently communicates with employees in the office and at remote locations
